Massachusetts is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Cape Cod wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Cape Cod animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local
Barnstable County Animal Control
for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses,
pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Barnstable County animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Cape Cod Wildlife Tip:
Raccoon removal attic - Raccoon removal from an attic can be a tricky business, and that's why it's one of those things best left to a professional. Now, you can physically do it yourself, but most homeowners don't have the knowledge or the experience to handle the situation if its gets out of control. If you're still going to try to take on the task, be prepared to have to trap and remove the raccoon. You won't be able to use a repellent. The only time a repellent has a chance to work is if you use it in a confined space like a chimney. Even then, not all raccoons are put off by an overwhelming odor. Because you're not going to get rid of a raccoon in the attic with a chemical repellent, you need to find a way to trap the creature. Most raccoons can be captured by using a cage trap installed on the exit opening that leads them into the attic. If you can scare the raccoon out of the hole, it will end up in the trap. Another method involves taking the baby raccoons and using them inside of a cage trap to lure in the mother. Most raccoons in a home are females with litters. Finding the litter will give you a trapping edge when the time comes to set up the cage trap.
Cape Cod, MA Animal Control News Clip:
Outdoors: First animal capture pays off
Call it beginner's luck. Damein The Cape Cod pest control specialist calls it skill trap. OK, and a little beginner's luck thrown in for good measure. In the first opossum animal capture of his young career, 11-year-old Damein The Cape Cod pest control specialist bagged a 17-pounder in March in the Cape Cod Basin. "It really got my heart racing, it was like nothing else I've ever experienced," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said.
The Teche Elementary student became an instant celebrity, with the picture appearing in the Teche News. By the time he got to school on Thursday, everyone already knew. "My student teacher I had, she had brought the Teche News that day and saw me in the paper," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "I guess I was kind of a celebrity."
The Cape Cod pest control specialist said he never thought he'd lethally trap a opossum on his first animal capture, especially after a close call earlier that morning. "The first spot we tried, we saw one and we kind of followed it," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "But somehow it saw us and ran away. After that, I was kind of depressed because I thought that was my only chance. The local Cape Cod SPCA could not be reached for comment.
"But we went to a second spot and my dad started calling and I saw one." Adrenaline took over, The Cape Cod pest control specialist said, and it took him a moment or two to calm his pounding heart. "My heart was beating so fast I couldn't control myself," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "I just took a deep breath and tried to relax. And then I shot. It was hard to try to trap at first, I was shaking. I didn't want to mess up. I was afraid I would miss."
But he didn't, and the result was the 17-pounder that measured an 8 1/2-inch beard and 7 1/8-inch spurs. "After I shot, my heart was going even faster, I didn't know what to do," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "I was yelling and laughing and screaming. It was kind of a bunch of mixed emotions. "At one point, I wanted to cry, at another point I was screaming, hopping up and down." Despite this, wildlife removal services are not a free service in Barnstable County.
His mother, Michelle The Cape Cod pest control specialist, was back at the camp and at first didn't believe him. His father, P.J., accompanied him on the wildlife trapping trip. "It was about 30 minutes after I lethally trapped it that my mom found out," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "At first, she didn't believe me. She thought I was messing with her.
"My dad was just really excited that it was my first opossum." The Cape Cod pest control specialist has been wildlife trapping for a couple of years, mostly rodent or reptile and squirrel. But thanks to one opossum animal capture, he's quickly becoming a fan. "Opossum wildlife trapping is so different," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said. "You have to have that edge like no other. It's a lot of heart-racing. I want to go out again, but my dad's been wildlife trapping on school days, so I haven't had a chance to go back out." The Cape Cod pest control specialist has only one regret from his first opossum experience - the post-hunt picture. "The mosquitoes were tearing me up, it was aggravating," The Cape Cod pest control specialist said of posing for the picture. "It wasn't the best picture I've taken. So I definitely have to get another one, so I can take a better picture."
