Remove raccoons from chimney - The first thing to remember when trying to remove raccoons from the chimney is: Keep the damper closed. If you open the damper, you're giving the raccoon access to the fireplace itself and thus the inside of your home. If you think it's a challenge to get the creature out of the flu, just wait until it's on top of your refrigerator. Also, don't start a fire. Even if you managed to kill the animals and they didn't just come through the fireplace and into your home, it's a horrible way to kill something, and you'll pay for it through the karma of a house that smell like burnt flesh for days. The best way to get a raccoon out of the attic is to attach a special trap to the top of the flu and then scare the adult out of the chimney. This is almost infallible, and with the adult raccoon captured, you'll be able to fish out any babies sitting on top of the damper. If you're not able to attach a trap to the top opening, you can scare the mother out and then use her babies as a lure in a cage trap set on the ground outside of the home.
