If you have rats in your home you may be looking
for a more permanent solution to resolve this
problem. It is true that you can hire someone to
come out and capture the rats and remove them from
your home, or you can even set up your own traps
to capture them, but this does not guarantee that
you have captured them all or that they will not
return. What you may be looking for is a more
permanent solution and so a rat poison may be just
                              what you are looking for.

You can head to the store and buy some commercial
brands, but some don’t want to spend the expense.
They are looking for a way to be able to create
their own rat poison that will do the job yet also
ensures that they are not creating a bigger
problem in their home. If you want to know how to
make homemade rat poison, then here are some
                              things to do.

There are a couple of different options you can
make, all of which are done with products that
most people have around their home. The first of
these requires you to mix plaster of Paris,
cornmeal, and milk together. Plaster of Paris can
be purchased at your local hardware store or craft
store, and when mixed with the cornmeal and milk
will help to thicken your product. If your mixture
is clumping too quickly, then continue to add milk
a little at a time so that you are able to
thoroughly mix the ingredients together. Ensure
that you do not over dilute it though.

When you are done, knead the mixture into little
balls about 1 inch in diameter, and then place
them in a spot where you know that rats are prone
to go. Check the balls every day or two to see if
they are gnawed on. If you find that they are
undisturbed then the issue is either that you are
placing them in the wrong location or that your
ball is not properly made. To be on the safe side,
re-create your mixture again in place fresh dough
                              balls out.

You can also make yourself your own homemade
poison by mixing together flour, sugar, and baking
soda. This takes about 1 cup of each. Mix these
into a large bowl but do not add any water to
them. Once you have thoroughly mix them, simply
pour the contents into some kind of shallow
container, like a plastic, and leave them in a
location where you know rats are prone to go.

How this works is actually quite simple. Once the
baking soda gets into the rat’s stomach it will
produce carbon dioxide. The rat is unable to pass
this gas out of its body and eventually it will
build up to the point that an internal blockage
will happen in the rat will die. It’s a very
elegant system that works quite easy despite being
                              so incredibly simple.
