How to find a snake -It is not easy to find a snake. Unlike other nuisance animals, snakes leave very little evidence of their passing. They are not destructive, so there are no chewed holes or wires around the building; they do not eat frequently, so droppings are not in abundance. The best way to find a snake is to observe your property. Remember snakes lack the ability to regulate their body temperature. On a warm, sunny day, the snake is probably basking on a rock. Check driveways, patios, rock fences, or any flat surface around the home. If you see the snake and walk toward it, it will likely retreat back to its den. If you try for days and do not come across the snake, you will have to examine your home for other evidence of the intruder. This can be almost impossible to detect; any crack or opening could possibly be a snake den. The best bet at this point is to put out a snake trap. One of the best models on the market is a glue trap enclosed within a box. Scent lures attract the serpent, and the opening forces the snake to enter and have to turn around to leave. By this time the glue has successfully secured the animal. All you have to do is pour vegetable oil on the glue to release the snake. This is an excellent way to relocate any species safely.
