Bird net installation is a popular method of bird removal and prevention, but it only works when the netting itself is installed correctly. It can stop birds from landing on large, flat surfaces, as well as preventing them from being allowed to roost. It's a clever and versatile method of protecting those surfaces and areas, with something that isn't entirely unpleasant to look at, and actually does the job rather well. Bird net installation is also something that can be done quite cost effectively. Buying rolls of netting is most definitely going to work out cheaper than many of the other bird prevention and removal items you can buy, and definitely those that require mains or battery operation.



The process of bird net installation is very simple, but you will need to ensure that it is done correctly for it to be as effective as it should be. If you are dealing with a large, square, flat surface, for example, you will want to use corner fixings first. If you are working on larger, more rectangular shaped areas, you will want these stronger, corner fixings approximately every 8 to 10 meters.

The fixings that you use between these will depend on the kind of bird netting you buy. Larger netting obviously works for larger birds, but smaller birds can still manage to squeeze through those far-apart gaps. Smaller netting works better for smaller birds, but can trap some larger birds. You will want to make sure you're buying and installing the right one for your particular bird problem, otherwise you might find yourself with other, bigger problems on your hands.

You should then run wire through these ringed fixings, and it is this thin wire strands that you will affix your bird netting too, circular ring fastenings working the best. You're essentially tent-pegging the bird netting down, in the same way that you'd peg a tent to the ground at festivals.

In some cases, you may require the bird netting to come down over the side of a ledge of platform to protect it entirely.
