California is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Bodega Bay wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Bodega Bay animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Bodega Bay Wildlife Tip:
What do raccoons eat
If you are a person who is having issues with raccoons coming around your home, one of the things that you will likely read as a way to keep them away is to remove potential food sources for them. They will explain to you that if there is not food available on your property then raccoons will not come around.

The problem is that you may have no idea what it is that raccoons are exactly after. It may be easy to bring inside the dishes for your pets each night, or two make sure your garbage cans are secure, but would they go after your garden? Would they find your apple tree or the birdseed that is fallen on the ground to be an edible snack for it? In essence, what you want to know is what do raccoons eat?

That's a really good question, because it plays an important role in you being able to keep these animals off of your property. If there are sources of food, they are going to return, so you want to remove everything that you can that would entice a raccoon onto your land.

The problem with these animals is that they will eat just about anything. Raccoons are very much like mice and rats in that they are true omnivores. If they can digest it, they will eat it.

This means that they will eat a wide variety of foods. It is not uncommon to see raccoons eating such things as corn, lettuce, carrots, apples, and berries. If they come across your grapevine or if cherries are falling to the ground, they will gladly devour those.

Raccoons are known to eat nuts as well, and will eat such things as acorns and other kinds of nuts that fall from trees. This can include walnuts among others.

Their appetite is not only for plant related items. Raccoons will eat meat as well, including insects, fish, frogs, rats, mice, and even bird eggs. Bird eggs are actually one of their most favorite choices, because they see how easy it is to get them. The kinds of insects they eat will include such things as beetles, grasshoppers, cockroaches, and grubs.

As you can see, there is very little that a raccoon will not eat. They will eat the meat of dead animals that has not rotted, and will even go through your garbage can to dig out whatever nutritious snack it could find.

If you are a person trying to keep these animals off of your land, it is easy to see what a challenge you have ahead of you. It can be done however. Make sure that you securely fastened garbage can lids, that there is no food for your pets outside, that you spray to reduce insect populations, and maybe that you remove your birdfeeder. Your garden area also needs to be secured with a 4 foot high fence that is buried at least 18 inches below the ground. Taking these measures will help you resolve your problem.
