California is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Lake Forest wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Lake Forest animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Orange County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Orange County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Lake Forest Wildlife Tip:
Do Snakes Feel Pain?

There is a lot of misinformation out there about snakes, their nature, their behaviors and even their pain tolerances. Today, we want to focus on if snakes feel pain or not.

Snakes can alarm even the most even-headed individual. The reason for this is simple; most people assume that ALL snakes are venomous and can kill. In all actuality, this is simply not true. In fact, only 25 percent of all known snakes are venomous and can kill. The other 75% are just frightening. So, it shouldn't be surprising that most people are not worried about whether a snake can feel pain or not.

Beyond Our Fears: Do Snakes Feel Pain?

So, now that we are beyond our fear of snakes ... let's look at whether snakes feel pain or not. There are a lot of myths out there and one of the most unjustified is the fact that snakes DO NOT feel pain.

Again, this is a myth!

Snakes do in fact feel pain. According to Douglas R. Mader, MS, DVM, DABVP-CA (2010), research has shown that snakes have the same ability to feel pain as mammals. Going even further, a survey was given to all the members of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians. In that survey, they were asked if they felt reptiles (including snakes) felt pain. Almost all of them responded that they 100% believe that reptiles feel pain.

How Do I Safely Deal With Snakes, Without Causing Pain Then?

If you've encountered a snake, surely the first thought was either to kill it or get away from it as fast as you can. This is wise and highly recommended. For the average person, it's highly unlikely that you'll know which ones are venomous and which ones aren't.

Instead of trying to deal with snakes yourself, you should contact a trained professional. Trained professionals have the proper equipment, safety gear and experience to handle the snakes properly. Generally, they even have anti-venom with them in the event that they are attacked by a snake.

So, even though snakes are dangerous and frightening, they can still feel pain. Unless you are actively being attacked by one, you should do what you can to leave them alone. Once away from them, contact a local rodent/pest removal company that can safely move them away from you or your residence.
