California is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Watsonville wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Watsonville animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local
Santa Cruz County Animal Control
for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses,
pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Santa Cruz County animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Watsonville Wildlife Tip:
How To Get Squirrels Out Of Your Chimney
There are times when you will squirrels trapped in your chimneys, they enter the chimneys but are unable to climb out of them compelling them to use the fireplace basement ducts to get out.
If you hear a squirrel scrambling in the chimney, you might as well assume that they are trapped except if you are convinced that it can climb out of the chimney on its own.
Don't try and use smoke to drive a squirrel out of the chimney. Stuck animals or the young babies might not be able to climb out and might be killed in the process. Try and make some noise so that the squirrel is encouraged to find her way out if it is not trapped.
Offer an Escape Route
Use a thick rope and hang it down the chimney and give her way to escape. Make sure you use a rope long enough for it to reach the smoke shelf or the damper, remember to tie one end of the rope to the top of the chimney before you lower the other end. You should not lower anything in the chimney that cannot be recovered easily. Usually the squirrel will escape from the chimney through the rope within a few hours. Once the squirrel has escaped, remove the rope from the chimney and use a commercially made chimney cap to secure it.
Distract the Squirrel
If the squirrel is in the fireplace behind the screen or glass try and make some noise to scare it and drive it back above the damper, now close the damper and use the escape plan mentioned above.
Trap and Release
If the squirrel cannot or is not leaving the fire place then the next best option for you is to use a live trap. Before you can open the doors of the fireplace in order to set a trap, close all the doors in the room leaving an exterior door or window open that is visible from the fireplace so that the squirrel can escape. Do not chase the squirrel if it gets out of the fireplace. Make a gentle trap with some peanut butter and place it cautiously inside the fireplace. Normally the squirrels move to a corner of the fireplace because the doors are open and will stay there if you keep the trap gently inside the doors. Close the doors slowly and leave the room and wait patiently for the squirrel to get trapped. Once trapped take the trap outside and open the trap door for the squirrel to escape. Remember to stand behind while opening the trap door.
Call a Professional
Sometimes evicting a squirrel can be challenging. There are possible safety risks to the house owner and humane trepidations if the eviction is not carried out correctly. It is strongly recommended that you call in a professional for your safety and the squirrels.
