Florida is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Ocoee wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Ocoee animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Orange County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Orange County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Ocoee Wildlife Tip:
What are some humane ways to kill a groundhog in a cage?

Dealing with groundhogs does not necessary mean killing them. There are multiple other methods that can be used to get rid of groundhogs other than killing, the most popular being the use of traps. However, even with the use of traps there comes a number of rules and regulations plus laws that need to be considered. For instance, in some states trapping groundhogs is illegal, which means that if you get caught, you will be penalized unless you obtain a trapping licence. In other areas, a caught groundhog should not be released or relocated to another area. In this case, you will have no other option but to kill it after catching it or to use the instant kill snap trap. Also, you can shoot the groundhog at close range, though this should also be done with care since in some areas careless gun shots are not acceptable and you might injure yourself if you are not familiar with shooting.

Some laws will require you to kill the groundhog humanely, even though this may seem like a contradiction. For example, you cannot just decide to starve the groundhog just because you do not have the guts to kill it. If you cannot, one has the option to call for help.

Other than using the trap and kill method, one can use a live trap. Here, the work of the trap is to not only trap the groundhog but to kill it. Once the groundhog steps onto the trigger plate, the trap snaps, and what the groundhog faces are multiple teeth which bludgeon it and pin it to its near and fast death. Sometimes, when the setting of the trap is not right, the force of the teeth may not be high enough to kill the groundhog but will only injure it badly. This will require you to end its suffering by either using a blunt force or just shooting it.

Some people are too anxious or compassionate to even consider killing anything. It is okay if you are one of them as you do not have to do this by yourself. One can resort to contacting the professionals. Since this is their daily work that they have much experience with, handling the groundhog in a cage is easier for them. They also have their own preferred modes of killing the groundhogs, which are highly determined by the laws of the area as well as the effectiveness, quickness, and humanity of the method.

Despite how hard you try, the general assessment is that there is no pleasant way of killing a groundhog. The main consideration should be minimizing the animal's suffering.
