Pensacola Wildlife Tip:
What Is A Common Size Of Rodent Feces - Finding rodent droppings inside your home can be a cause of concern especially if you do not know which type of rodent left it there. Are the droppings the result of a mouse infestation in the house? Could it be that you have rats? Is it possible that you have rodents in the house? This article will give you a few tips tom recognize rodent poop, including the size of rodent feces and the shape of it. To begin with, the shape of a rodent's droppings is the same as rice. If you are not paying attention it will look like wild rice.

The size of the poop will also help you distinguish the droppings from that of other types of rodents. The size is about 3/8s of an inch long while its diameter is only 1/8. To put it in perspective, it is almost the same as the grains of rice which they look like. It is possible that you will find several droppings in the same place, but most likely they will be spread all over the room in which the rodents have made a home. It is rare to find the droppings in food cabinets, if you find some there, then you probably have mice.

Wildlife - Caiman Takes Dip In Fla. Pool

A South Florida homeowner found something unusual splashing around in his swimming pool Tuesday. Florida has an abundance of wildlife, and Pensacola is no exception.

Denny Lott returned home Tuesday night after power was restored to his house. He said when he turned on the pool pump, he found a creepy-crawly surprise. Although several species of wildlife roam Pensacola, only a few, such as raccoons and squirrels, are considered pest wildlife.

"When I turned on the pool pump, I heard a splash, and I saw what I thought was an iguana. But, when I turned off the pump, I saw a gator going into the pool," Lowe said. Florida has many reptiles, and it's important to be able to identify Pensacola snake species and mammals.

The creature was later identified as a caiman, an animal that resembles the more familiar alligators. Escambia Animal Control managed to capture the feisty caiman. Wildlife officers will determine whether the animal will be returned to its owner. Remember to treat the wild animals of Pensacola, Florida, with respect and care.
