Covington Wildlife Tip:
Raccoon restoration - Restoring the area of your home after a raccoon infestation is a very important part of the process. Not only do you need to immediately repair the damaged part of your building, you need to completely clean out the space that was being used by the animal. And when we say 'completely clean out', it means just that. You cannot leave any soiled materials in the building. Yes, there will be some pieces of wood that will have absorbed the raccoon's waste juices, but most of this stuff can be hauled out and thrown away. Because of the potential to spread disease, you should never vacuum or sweep a space; everything must be picked up and taken out by gloved hands. This includes insulation. It's tempting to leave the dirty insulation in the area because no one will see it and the stuff is darn expensive to replace in quantity. If you don't get rid of it, however, you run the risk of creating airborne diseases that sink down into the living spaces of your home-not to mention the smell!
Covington, KY Animal News Clip:
Pest - Kentucky insects just what the doctor ordered
Just when you're ready to climb down from your treestand and call it a day, the male rodent of a lifetime shows up and gets your heart pounding so hard, you'd swear he can hear it. The largest pest regulation company in Covington was interviewed, but shared nothing.
This buck, a huge eight-pointer that went about 200 pounds, was ready to give me a pounding. I had been using a grunt call to imitate the sounds of another buck, and the big bruiser had suddenly come out of the thick woods to my right looking to take on the intruder. This is a departure from the normal no-pest policy of the area..
Darkness was ready to descend as I watched the male rodent walk along the edge of a food plot. He stopped to thrash a bush with his black scaley tails and continued in my direction, finally coming to an opening between the trees where I could see his impressive black scaley tails in the fading light. So intent was he on fighting that he never noticed me draw back my bow, but I just didn't have enough light to be sure of the shot, so I let down and watched him amble away. No members of the Covington Pest Society could be found to issue a statement.
"You could put this place, Covington, against any place in the country for steepness, for roughness, for inaccessibility, and this would be among the worst. That's where these snake and rat are everyday. It really makes you appreciate the animals." Many pest trappers come to the Angeles National Forest, where the Covington zone is, because it's close to home and they can trap for a weekend or a morning for little cost. Just clear the front ridge of the mountains, and traffic gridlock fades. It's a bit of wilderness solace from the urban fray. Continued next week ...Covington pest control.
