Missouri is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Raytown wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Raytown animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Jackson County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Jackson County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Raytown Wildlife Tip:

Is bat feces dangerous to touch or breathe?

Bat feces are very dangerous to touch or breathe. Feces carry parasites that can transfer over to you if touched and dry feces are dangerous to breathe since it becomes airborne, carrying with it, dangerous pathogens. Parasites that live in feces can burrow into your bodies, creating their very own eco-system. You would start suffering from major illnesses such as respiratory disease, heart conditions, digestive issues and maybe even eventual death if not controlled in time.

Histoplasmosis, a fungus found in most bird feces, is a very common disease that can harm humans. If bats are infected with this disease, they would be able to spread it via their feces. Since histoplasmosis is a fungus, then this means that it is alive and growing, unless someone physically destroys its spores. When the feces become airborne and you inhale it, then you would be immediately affected with the histoplasmosis disease. At first, the symptoms would seem as though you have contracted the Flu, having fever, dry cough, loss of appetite and headaches. More severe symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pains and impaired vision. You may even think you have contracted Tuberculosis. If a proper diagnosis of histoplasmosis is not made in time to be treated, you can die from the disease.

When you are entering an area where you suspect animals such as bats cohabitate, you should always where protective clothing and dust masks. Even disposable shoes should be worn. Many professionals will tell you to walk with a spray bottle filled with water so that you can mist the area before you walk because you risk disturbing dried feces that would quickly become airborne. The moistness would prevent them from flying but it is not a one hundred percent preventative measure. You can vacuum up the feces using your vacuum but be careful when emptying the dust collector, wear your gloves and dust masks when doing so, at least.

If there are bats in your home, you should contact your local wildlife authorities to help you get rid of them or they would point you in the direction of professionals who can do this for you. The last option would be to do it yourself, but you risk putting yourself into danger if you are not well prepared. The only months that are safe to eradicate your home from bats are during April and May which is are the months right after the winter season, and August, the month before they go into hibernation. Bats hibernate during the winter, so it is impossible to get them out during the winter season. The female bats give birth during the month of June and the babies would need a few weeks before they can fly on their own. It would be inhumane of you to separate a mother from its young and you risk the chance of having an aggressive bat frantically flying around your home, trying to get to its young. Once you are sure the bats have exited your premises, you would then need to thoroughly clean your area of feces with bleach and/or other substances that can kill the deadly spores.
