New York is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Rotterdam wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Rotterdam animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Rotterdam Wildlife Tip:
The Diamondback Rattlesnake: Appearance, Biology, Life Cycle, Habitat, Diet, Behavior

Appearance:

The diamondback snake is popularly known as Crotalus Atrox, and they are one of the most commonly misunderstood reptile species. These snakes are usually observed to be cold-blooded, calculating an ornery. However, it has a negative reputation among humans, but it is considered as one of the most popular symbols of the rugged west. Note that the male diamondback rattlesnakes use to have a larger size as compared to the females. Eyes and nostrils of these snakes are found on the top portion of their head. Experts report that they have some diamond-like spots on the back portion of their body and hence named as diamondback snakes. This marking can be in the form of white and black spots. The head is broader, and the eyes have two diagonal lines on each side.

The appearance of diamondback rattlesnake usually varies as per the location where it lives and the age as well. In most cases, these variations occur due to genetic changes. The primary color of these snakes can be brownish, light gray, pink, straw yellow and brick red as well.

Habitat:

Earlier these creatures were limited to the wild areas, and they used to live in bushes, trees and other darker corners of the forests. But within past few years, these creatures have shifted to urban areas and now are one of the biggest troubles for homeowners in the United States. The diamondback rattlesnakes keep on visiting human habitats in search of some food, and if they get enough amount within your premises, they would even like to create dens in the surrounding area or in the attic or shed as well.

Biology:

The male diamondback snakes usually appear larger as compared to the females. In the spring season, the male snakes prefer to visit their hibernation sites to find the best mating partner. Note that, when two male diamondback snakes meet each other, they usually fight and the one who wins the battle becomes able to mate with the female. These snakes usually come close to each other for mating in the summer season, and then they give birth to babies in the month of September or October. Note that one female snake can give birth to around 9 to 14 young snakes at once. Hence, we can say that they multiply so fast. There is no reason to allow them to create dens in your habitat otherwise you will have many of them within very less time.

Diet:

The diamondback rattlesnakes prefer to eat small mammals such as mice, rat, cottontail rabbits, chipmunks, and squirrels. The snake usually forges on the prey, and as soon as it becomes able to capture the targeted creature, they coil around to kill it and then consume. These snakes are observed to be more active in the month of March. People living in the areas with mild temperatures may find these rattlesnakes wondering here and there in the day hours as well.
