South Carolina is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Greenwood wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Greenwood animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Greenwood Wildlife Tip:
Do All Squirrels Have Rabies?

Rabies is a viral disease of central nervous system that is normally transmitted to human beings from the animals. Domestic and wild all kind of animals can get rabies in them. Sadly this disease is pretty fatal to all human and animals while there is no such cure for it. But the timely post exposure shots are really effective to prevent the disease from developing.

Normally hot blooded animal including human gets this disease. The birds generally do not get rabies and it is seen in very few rodents such as mice, rats, moles, squirrels and voles.

But no, all the squirrels do not have rabies or else this rodent almost never been found to have rabies. So, the furry creature squirrels neither have rabies virus in them nor they transmit the disease in human. Also the bite of this animal is not considered to create the risk of rabies unless the animal was behaving in an unusual manner or was sick. So, you can be quite risk free from squirrels.

Not just squirrels rather other small rodent like rats, mice, chipmunks, etc. also do not carry this virus and do not transmit rabies virus in human being. But woodchucks and groundhogs are the main animal that carry and cause rabies. From 1985 to 1994, it was observed that these two animals accounted for almost 86percent of the rabies among 368 cases. So, you can stay far from these two animals but squirrels the cute animal is not actually the cause of rabies.

The main symptoms of this disease in animal are the following. They appear too drunk or wobbly while also agitated. They will tend to bite or snap on the real or imaginary objects. The animal will act disoriented and will also seem bit paralyzed. However, if you have pets at house other than squirrels or other rodents, always stay protected from this fatal disease by following the mentioned guidelines. Vaccinate your pets beforehand so that they do not get this virus in the future. In case the pet is sick, never approach them and consult with doctor first. Also go for the quick post exposure treatment if you are advised for that by the doctor or specialists.

So, if there are squirrels at your property that need to be removed but showing the above mentioned signs, then handle them with precaution. The best way to deal with those squirrels is to remove them from your property using various repellents or motion activated equipments. Also do not worry for the disease as till date hardly any squirrels have been found infected with this disease.
