When you see a snake in your yard, the best advice one can give is to leave it alone. Snakes will never attack unless they feel they are under the threat, and when they attack to get food it is to catch pray which are small animals such as mice, rats, smaller lizards, etc. Additionally, majority of snake species around are harmless-there are much less venomous snakes then non-venomous.
