Virginia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional South Riding wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some South Riding animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Loudoun County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Loudoun County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

South Riding Wildlife Tip:
Humane Bat Removal
Bats are normally not aggressive creatures, but they may bite if you attempt to pick one up. Bats carry diseases, and they should be treated like other wild animals by not attempting to catch them or get too close. When cleaning up bat excrement make sure to wear gloves and always use a disinfectant. If you end up suffering a bite from a bat you need to seek medical attention asap as they carry various diseases.

Sometimes you can get one lonely bat that is often a youngster that will happen to fly inside your home through an open door or large gap. The bat will then look for a way back out again so by leaving some doors and windows open will help the bat to get back out again. If the bat does not leave you can then capture the bat and release it back outside. Once it lands and sits still, you can place a box over it and place a piece of cardboard in between the box and wall so you can safely trap the bat in the box.The bat is best to be released at nightfall. You will need to let the bat go from holding the container up high. Bats cannot fly from the ground. If you find a low enough tree, you can place the box near the branch and slowly take the cardboard away and wait for the bat to latch onto the branch.

Sometimes during capturing bats can be injured. If it appears to be unable to fly return the bat to the box and contact your local wildlife centre or a local veterinarian.

Using bat scat
Bat scat is a mixture that can be spread inside your home where the rats are roosting. The odour that is released is uncomfortable for the bats. Bat scat needs to be reapplied after about three months. Once the area has been treated bats should leave within minutes. Be careful how much you use as it can drift through the home and isn't a very nice scent for the family to be living with. You can buy a granule guard which is a plastic container that can hold granules and bat scat treatment. Just place the deterrent into the guard and place wherever you see bats being active. The granule guard makes an easy way to discard of the mixture if it becomes too much to handle inside it is then just a matter of picking up the container and removing it. There is no hard cleaning involved.

Sometimes it can be hard to get the bat scat close to where they are roosting by using the containers you can hang then up high closer to where they are.

There are other bat removal techniques like electronic ultrasonic repellants but most of these don't reach high enough to annoy the bats enough and bats tend to get used to these after a certain amount of time. If all else fails, you can contact the wildlife rescue and they will come and put a procedure in place for a humane bat removal.
