Virginia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Warrenton wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Warrenton animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Fauquier County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Fauquier County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Warrenton Wildlife Tip:
What are some ways to kill a groundhog in the yard?

1. The trap and kill method
After confirming that the legislation of your state does allow trapping and killing of groundhogs, then you can go ahead with this method. When using the live trap, either the one door or two door model, one can set up the baited trap in the yard to capture the groundhog. The best position being where the groundhog has the most activity if not close by its burrow. Also, just to be sure, camouflage the trap so that the groundhog does not avoid it automatically. Care should also be taken when setting up the trap since these animals will avoid human beings at all costs. Therefore, make sure that the trap does not have any human scent, which will highly reduce the capture rate. Once caught, one can then kill the groundhog. If you do not want to use the cage trap, then you can opt to use the lethal trap. This method is considered faster as it kills the groundhog on the spot after being caught.

2. Shooting
When one chooses to use this method, then it means you likely have a firearm. If not, you can get access to one. One also has to be able to operate the firearm carefully to avoid accidents, casualties and injuries to oneself. You can choose to trap the groundhog first before shooting it, or if you can target and are one hundred percent sure you got the shot even without capturing, then you can go for it.

3. Poisoning
This is also another method one can use to kill a groundhog in the yard. The way to go about this is to use food bait, probably one that the groundhogs favor such as the cantaloupe. This can be added with a little poison to kill it. However, just to be a little less cruel, use poison that will work at a fast pace to reduce the suffering of the groundhog.

4. Hunting dogs
It's more like a predator-prey situation. Any dogs will do, as long as they can hunt the groundhogs. Of course the groundhog will try to escape or run away from the predator, which is the dog, but it can either be caught or be eaten. If the groundhog manages to escape, it will certainly scare off and relocate. This may not be permanent if done once, but if one regularly goes hunting with the dog, they will be gone for good for fear of being preyed on.

5. Fumigation
It involves using fumes which are lethal to groundhogs and kill them instantly. A cartridge is used, though it is better used in the case of a groundhog inside a burrow in your yard.
