Connecticut is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Burlington wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Burlington animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Hartford County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Hartford County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Burlington Wildlife Tip:

How to kill chipmunks

If the chipmunk nuisance is getting out of control, you may want to kill it to solve your problem. Chipmunks are rodents that live on the ground and being omnivores, they are ready to eat whatever they can sink their teeth into including nuts, plant bulbs, and a variety of insects. Here is a brief look at how you can kill a chipmunk.

Lethal traps or use a bucket of water

The first thing you should do when trying to kill a chipmunk is use a lethal trap. This is a very common way of killing it. There are many different types of lethal traps that you can think about using. The most common such trap is the snap trap. You may also want to use by other means such as by filling a bucket with water and then placing some sunflower seeds inside and outside the bucket as well as on a plank leading to the bucket. Once the chipmunk starts eating the seeds it will probably drop into the bucket and drown in the water. This is however not the most pleasant way to kill a chipmunk because the animal will take some time to drown and die and so the death will cause it a lot of agony.

Use a trap

Some people prefer using a trap called the glue board. This trap works well in attics but is also another inhumane and cruel way of killing chipmunks. There are also certain states in the US that have outlawed the killing of certain wild animals. So, before using this option, make sure it is not illegal to kill chipmunks in your state.

Shoot to kill

If you own a gun and are a good marksman, then you may want to try shooting the chipmunk. However, most people find it difficult to shoot and kill a chipmunk as they are small in size and always moving about. Thus, only a very good marksman will be able to shoot and kill a chipmunk.

Use poison

Poisoning the chipmunk is also an option available to those who want to kill chipmunks. However, if the chipmunks have got into the attic or in a roof cavity, then this option may not prove to be the best because when chipmunks consume the poison, they will not die immediately and will try to find their way out. While doing this, they can do some damage to your attic or roof cavity. Also, its dead body will become a health hazard, and it could also attract other animals. Once the body begins to decompose, it will give off a truly foul odor and hence this option is not so popular.

There are other ways to get rid of chipmunks than killing them. Also, since chipmunks live in large family groups, it may be hard to kill them all off. Prevention is better than cure which is why you should ensure your property is as unattractive to chipmunks as is possible. An unattractive property won't attract chipmunks and hence you won't need to deal with them.
