Keeping squirrels out of my bird feeder

Of all the antics a squirrel performs, perhaps the most frustrating and seemingly inexplicable is getting into your bird feeder. Now, this is terrible if you love your birds, but even if you don't, this is far from an ideal scenario.

If a squirrel can access your bird feeder, then it can get into all sorts of places in your house. Therefore, it is worth it to educate yourself on how to prevent these pesky creatures from ruining the birdseed.

Remove the feeders from the garden

Most of us keep our bird feeders in the garden because that is where most of the birds in the neighborhood like to lurk, and it is easily accessible to your pet birds as well. However, it is also very much accessible to the pestiferous squirrels.

You don't have to keep your feeder in the garden; roofs and terraces will work just as well and will be relatively less accessible to squirrels.

Spice things up

They commonly come in a tornado or wrap-around shapes, and they are quite pleasing to look at as well. Moreover, these special feeders are not expensive and are sustainable.

Just give them their feeder!

If nothing works, or you are too lazy, the best thing you can do is to put separate feeder for the squirrels themselves. This should include all the things that they love, including nuts and berries. This will ensure that the creature will be satiated, and it won't have to approach your bird feeder to fill up its belly.
