Georgia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Ellijay wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Ellijay animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

County Animal ServicesDOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local Gilmer County Animal Control for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses, pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Gilmer County animal control, and see what they have to say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that helps with dog and cat issues only.

Ellijay Wildlife Tip:
Do rats kill mice?

In the course of their living, mice are predisposed to so many dangerous including the danger of being attacked by their own counterpart, the rats. Rats attack and eat the mice, a predatory behavior that is commonly known as muricide. It is a form of a predatory behavior where the rats hunt, kill and eat the mice.

What leads to this behavior?

This predatory behavior is brought about by so many factors. Male mice smell much like the rats only with a much stronger. Now the male mouse has always seen itself up to the task of challenging the rats. The smell f a male mouse will often seem to drive the male rats with somewhat resentment which to them is a sexual challenge. This leads to fights among them and thus, the mice will end up dead.

Why do they kill?

Rats will do anything in their power to survive. Therefore if it means killing, they will do it. Here are some of the reasons why the rats will kill;

- To mark their territory. Nobody in particular would want their territory disturbed and therefore the rats would kill if their territory is disturbed.
- For survival. This is another reason why the rats would kill. If in case they want to survive in their own setting, then they would be forced to take over.
- To challenge. This is another common reason why the mice would end up dead. If the mouse wants to challenge the rats, then the rats will always kill the rats.
- To feed. This is another reason why the rats would kill the mice. If there is hunger in their territory, then the mice present a good diet to them.

These are some of the most common reasons why the mice would end up dead being killed by the rats. This predatory behavior saw 71% of the wild rats and 12% of the domesticated rats would kill the mice.

In case you are having a rat and a mouse together in the same house, you need to separate them otherwise you may walk in your house one day only to find your mice dead. If you are not going to separate them, then be sure to mark each pet's territory to avoid this behavior by the rats! Otherwise, keeping them together presents a unique opportunity for them to kill one another.
