Louisiana is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Houma wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Houma animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local
Terrebonne Parish Animal Control
for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses,
pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Terrebonne
Parish animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Houma Wildlife Tip:
Should I feed a baby opossum I found?
What will you do if you have found a baby possum? Should you feed it? What will you give to the baby? Well, according to the rehabbers, humans must never give the baby possum cow's milk, eggs, honey or goats milk. It is best to use pedialyte until such time that they are ready for a formula milk. If it is urinating, you can keep it properly hydrated. The best is to use a powdered formula which they call the Esbilac, this is based on the diets of the possums. It is just that there is a problem with the animal milk replacement in the powdered form, because they can be rancid and they might not live up to the expiry dates written on the container.
The milk formula must be kept in the fridge all the time. You can just buy them in a small amount only and you can be sure that they have not set on the shelf very long. All are made by the smaller companies only with limited capacity to make the batches of milk uniform. There is just not enough big product in the market for these, which is also the reason why Borden's sold off such production materials in their facilities years back. When you start to feed the babies until the rehabber come, dilute the milk formula in water. You can always feed the pups in a safer manner by diluting the milk in the water all the time than to feed them with a concentrated milk mixture.
A part of the milk formula must be added to 3 cups of warm water, this is good enough to start feeding them. Do this every 2-3 hours, however, never give too often than needed, because some of the previous meals might not absorb yet by their body. If you will use a needle with a small portion of medicinal silicone elastic tubes placed over the end of the needle. As the baby grows, the needle can be dispensed exclusively. As the baby grows, the needle may be dispensed with the whole.
Others are using eyedroppers to feed them. You can also use a disposable lab pipette, it also works best for older babies, however, as they come, they are quite hard on the end for smaller pups. Stop feeding the infants, even if they are greedy to eat. Increase the formula strength over time until you achieved the one-part powder to 2 parts water and then dramatically lessen the feeding time for every 4 hours as the amount of the formula they have consumed in feeding increases as well. It is best to be careful in handling the pups. They are fragile and they must be handled with care.
