Maryland is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Laurel wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Laurel animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local
Prince George's County Animal Control
for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses,
pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Prince George's County animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Laurel Wildlife Tip:
Rabbit Prevention - How To Keep Rabbits Away From Yard Or Garden
When you have a nice piece of land with nice vegetables and fruits on it that you have really sacrificed your resources to see grow and prosper, a rabbit infestation on it is the last thing you would ever let happen. If those tiny lagomorphs went astray and infested your garden, the aftermath would be nothing to look at. They could really waste the place. There are many different ways that you could approach the problem and thus prevent such a scenario from ever coming to life.
Home-made solutions
These are those mixtures of some substances, readily available at home, that actually work to disgust the rabbits either by smell or taste. There are many different types, and it is best that you try as many as possible, to finally come up with the one that works best for you. Some of them are;
- Garlic, eggs and dish washing detergent.
- Mint, egg and garlic mixture.
- Raw linseed oil, detergent and water.
- Cayenne pepper, dishwashing soap, tobacco sauce and water.
- Wolf-urine, coyote urine, blood meal, or bone meal.
- Ground black, red hot pepper, garlic and water.
These should be handled carefully. The labels on the containers should be read carefully so that the possibility of harm to the plants and on pets is known and thus, necessary steps taken to prevent or to control the chances of harm. Also, these solutions are fairly ineffective and their effect wears off very fast, therefore, it is best that they are applied regularly. It is also good to mention here that most rabbits normally eat in the evenings and that is the best time to apply these repellents.
Traps
These come in many different forms for the rabbits. There are both non-lethal, and lethal traps. Lethal traps include the snare trap which chocks the victim, while non-lethal ones include the one-door and the two-door rabbit traps. The lethal ones should not be used unnecessarily on the rabbits. They actually bring more problems instead of solving them. The live cage trap, should be just enough to accommodate the whole rabbit and therefore keep it safe from the trigger which may harm it. Trapping and releasing the animal is not legal everywhere so, before attempting that, one will need to first check with their local authority.
Fencing
This is by far, one of the best ways to prevent rabbits from getting to your property. There are two main methods to go about this;
- Chicken wire fencing, or
- Electric wire fencing.
Also, making the garden less attractive to the rabbits is a form of prevention of a rabbit infestation. The land is made less interesting to the rabbits by trimming off of the unnecessary vegetation that provides nice hiding places for the rabbits. The idea here is making the garden as open as possible.
