Michigan is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Traverse City wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Traverse City animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local
Grand Traverse County Animal Control
for assistance. They can help you out with issues such as stray dogs, stray cats, vaccinations, licenses,
pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Grand Traverse County animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Traverse City Wildlife Tip:
Keeping rats away - Keeping rats away is not as tricky as it seems. You do not need cans of coyote urine, and you do not need clumps of dog hair to spread around your yard. Mothballs and peppermint oil are just as unnecessary. It's not that there is a simpler method for keeping rats away; it's that repellents don't work. The best methods for keeping rats out of your home is to keep your house as free of damage and gaps as possible. Buildings are often on-going projects that require constant attention to make sure weather damage and the breakdown of materials is remedied as soon as possible. Rats need to find a way into your home before they can become a nuisance. If there are no passages through the exterior of the building, you will be as protected against rats as you can be. The only other project that might help your cause is to be proactive about the care of your lawn and surrounding vegetation. Rats want to be as clandestine as possible when they sneak up to the house. If the grass is short and no vegetation is around to conceal them, rats will be leery of venturing toward the building.
Traverse City, MI Animal Control News Clip:
A Michigan rodent or reptile animal capture enables disabled veteran
The critter capture pro The Traverse City pest control specialist returned recently from a Michigan long tailed raccoon and opossum animal capture. That's not extraordinary, but the way it came about was. You see, The critter capture pro is a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of Traverse City exterminator expert. His animal capture was sponsored and paid for by the Traverse City Chapter of Safari pest control group International (SCI). During a fundraising auction, Chapter President The Traverse City wildlife removal company pro purchased the animal capture with the specific purpose of providing an experience for a disabled veteran.
The auction was held at the Exotic Wildlife Associations trophy game records banquet. Dr. Ned Keidel of Traverse City, Michigan, donated the animal capture, which would be on his ranch in the Michigan hill country, about 60 miles northwest of Traverse City. The Traverse City exterminators and Wendy's Wildlife trapping Adventures also donated their guide services as well as an additional Long tailed and Big one female coon animal capture. While on the animal capture they stayed at the Y.O. Ranch Resort. This famous ranch is done in hill country decor and has an abundance of mounted wildlife, not only from the local area, but also from all over the world.
The critter capture pro was given the option of flying or driving to Michigan, but chose to drive. Anyone who is paralyzed will understand why. As The critter capture pro says, "We normally have to take too much stuff when we travel to conveniently fly." The group met on the evening before the animal capture, had a brief tour of the ranch, and a plan was made of how the animal capture would be conducted. Dave joined the trip, but did not hunt; he was, in his words, "luggage bearer, photographer, and all-around flunky." They ended the evening knowing each other a little better, and planned on getting up very early the next morning. The local Traverse City SPCA could not be reached for comment.
About 7:30 a.m., while on stand, The Traverse City exterminators whispered, "There he is." In front of them was a beautiful 9-pointer, which caused a serious case of male coon fever. As they watched, a large 6-pointer challenged the big male coon and a pushing match ensued. When they broke up, a clear shot was presented and The critter capture pro took it. His heart felt sick when the rat & mouse ran instead of falling. He looked back at The Traverse City exterminators and Dave, expecting a "better luck next time," but instead got the thumbs up and a "great shot, he may have run, but he didn't go far." The squirrel and skunk made it to a clump of large plants 40 to 45 yards away before falling. After some pictures and congratulations, they went back to camp to plan for the next day's animal capture.
Saturday morning found them back on stand waiting for a Long tailed female coon. A nice one appeared at about 120 yards, and this time things worked as they were supposed to; she dropped and didn't move. With a grin, Dave said, "That's what you planned yesterday, wasn't it?" After more pictures and pats on the back, they called it quits and a little before dusk moved to another location hoping for the Big one. They saw quite a few, but couldn't get in range. The next morning they saw lots of rodent or reptile and one nice Big one female coon moving towards them. When she finally stopped at a mere 40 yards away, The critter capture pro shot. Just like the day before, she dropped and didn't move. It was the culmination of a fantastic animal capture. Despite this, wildlife removal services are not a free service in Grand Traverse County.
The Traverse City wildlife removal company pro has been to the Y.O. Ranch many times and knows the area pretty well, so he played tour guide on Sunday afternoon. They toured the ranch, which was founded in the 1880s. As they drove around, they saw exotic wildlife from Africa, Asia, and Europe, as well as the U.S. They also toured the historic lodge and wildlife museum. As The critter capture pro says, "This was the animal capture of a lifetime. I will never forget it, or the people that I met while there. The Traverse City exterminators and Wendy are great people and know what they're doing."
The Traverse City wildlife removal company pro and SCI deserve credit, too. Without them, the trip wouldn't have happened. The idea was to see if it would be possible for people with disabilities to go on catches like this. They proved it not only possible, but hope to make it an annual event. With the help of SCI and the effort of its members, trips such as this one will continue to be provided, giving an opportunity to people that otherwise might not have this experience. This wasn't Dave Small's or SCI's first humanitarian effort. Dave also conducts, for blind schoolchildren an annual "Sensory Safari." This allows kids to touch and feel a variety of animal skins, skulls, and mounts that they would not normally have the opportunity to experience. We take for granted the appearance of elephant tusks, tiger's teeth, or bear claws. Most of the children experience this for the first time. Well done Dave, and hats off to the Traverse City Chapter of SCI.
