New York is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional New Rochelle wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some New Rochelle animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

New Rochelle Wildlife Tip:
About the House Mouse: Appearance, biology, life cycle, habitat, diet, behavior

Most people have come into contact with a mouse. Even though they a minute and look very harmless, they are able to cause destruction in your home. Once they have entered your home they are difficult to catch. Their size means that they are able to fit into even the most minuscule places. Most people regard them as pests and try to get rid of them. However, there are people who believe that they make great pets.

Appearance

The house mouse is a very small rodent that mainly lives in the homes of humans. It varies in color from light brown to almost black. They can grow up to seven inches in length. They have large ears and a hairless tail. They also have a small, pointed nose. They have small, protruding eyes that are unable to distinguish color. It has thin whiskers, and their narrow hind feet end in short, sharp claws.

Biology

Male house mice are able to emit a special ultrasonic sound when they want to mate. They spend much of their time sleeping and are mostly nocturnal. They are mammals and are very rarely monogamous.

Lifecycle

The gestation period of the house mouse is 19 to 21 days. The female gives birth to an average of 6 - 8 babies. The pups are born blind and have no ears or fur. By the fourth day, the ears have developed. After about six days the pup starts developing fur, and their eyes open after thirteen days. They are weaned at about twenty-one days. The males reach sexual maturity in about eight weeks and the female in six weeks. They live up to two years.

Habitat

These small rodents are found in almost all countries of the world. They are mostly found in grassy areas. They prefer to live in forests but are quite comfortable living in cities where food is easy to obtain. When they live in the wild, they will build nests inside burrows that they have excavated.

Diet

Their diet consists mostly of insects and seeds, including grains. However, they are omnivores and will eat whatever they are able to find. When they are starving they have even been known to start eating each other.

Behavior

Mice are intelligent creatures who are often kept as pets. They are able to stand on their hind legs, using their tails for balance. They are territorial and do not like to interact with other animals. Unless domesticated they don't like interacting with people. They are good swimmers and climbers and are able to jump great heights.
