Texas is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Palo Pinto wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Palo Pinto animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.

Palo Pinto Wildlife Tip:

How to trap a beaver

Beavers can be responsible for killing trees and vegetation, digging water bank dens and even manipulating the water levels. They are one of the largest rodents in the world. One of the best ways of getting rid of these creatures is trapping them. The three key ingredients required for trapping a beaver includes a selection of right trap, perfect location and lots of patience.

Trapping of beavers is a difficult task. Beavers are intelligent creatures, and they can easily evade poorly set up traps. In the article below, the primary objective is deducing a method to trap beavers.

Choice of Traps

While choosing a beaver trap, three essential things should be considered, i.e., Size, Durability, and Safety. Since massive beavers can weigh as much as 50 pounds, therefore the trap should be large enough to support the mass and size of the beaver. An ideal size for the trap is 42" in length and 15" in width. Also, the wire mesh of the trap should at least be 2 mm thick.

Since beavers live in wet environments, therefore 12-gauge galvanized wire can withstand this much moisture. The safety of the beaver should also be considered. There should not be any rough edges, or loose wire ends inside the trap which might hurt the beaver.

Location of Trap

Beavers live a scheduled life. Therefore their day to day activities and pathways can be easily predicted. Place the traps either on beaver slides or dam crossovers. These places have the most beaver activity. While placing the traps on beaver slides, make sure that the trap is set to close to the shoreline. The dam crossovers are often underwater. Therefore, special care should be taken while placing the traps there. More than half of the trap should not be submerged under water, or else the trapped beaver might end up drowning.

Bait Selection

The most common bait used to catch beavers is Beaver castor. Apart from beaver castor, branches or twigs can also be used as baits. Make sure to place the bait behind the metal trigger pan. This placement of bait ensures that the beaver completely enters the trap before consuming the bait. If you have set the trap in water, rather than putting the bait, hang it using any suitable material. In this way, the bait remains dry.

Timing

While trapping a beaver, the timing of placing the trap is of utmost importance. Since beavers are nocturnal animals, therefore the best timing to place the traps is early evening. The door opening of the trap should be facing the beaver pond.

Observing the Trap

Leaving a beaver trapped in a cage for a more extended period can be dangerous for the animal. The animal might become anxious and hurt itself. Make sure to check the trap every 24 hours. Once you have caught a beaver, make proper arrangements for its release in the wilderness, far away from your home.
