Virginia is full of wildlife, including snakes, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, opossums, and more. Wildlife removal is a complex field. I recommend professional Hopewell wildlife control services if you want to solve a critter problem legally and correctly. For example, we specialize in animals in the attic, which have broken into the house and almost always have a nest of baby animals. It is necessary to perform correct preventative repairs to keep pest animals a out of your house for good. We perform full building inspection, do the the repairs and we also offer attic decontamination if necessary. Rats and mice love to live in attics, and can chew wires or leave droppings. Some Hopewell animals frequently enter homes, and correct removal is not a simple task.
DOG or CAT: If you need assistance with a domestic animal, such as a dog or a cat, you need to call your local

pet adoption, lost pets, and more. If you have a wildlife problem, you can try calling the Prince George County animal control, and see what they have to
say, but they will certainly not help you with a complex wildlife problem such as critters in your attic. They are a free government agency that
helps with dog and cat issues only.

Hopewell Wildlife Tip:
Is it legal for me to trap a pigeon?
Wild pigeons, called Feral pigeons can be a menace. They have become so dependent upon humans for their survival that their primary habitat has become urban areas. When they settle in an area they breed like crazy and they cover an area in feces. As if that's not bad enough they are also known to carry an estimated 60 different kinds of disease. Sometimes they can become very intrusive and leave people wondering the best way to get rid of them.
There are many people who keep pigeons as pets in coops or farms, although these are pigeons of a different breed. Some people even race pigeons by releasing them far from their home and keeping track of the time it takes them to come home. There are some farms that raise pigeons and sell them to restaurants as a delicacy. This practice has been growing more and more in recent years.
Regardless of the reason, many people find themselves asking the question of whether it is legal to trap a pigeon. The pigeons you see in the wild are called Feral Pigeons and are considered vermin in many places including the USA and UK.
While it is certainly not recommended to keep feral pigeons as pets, there are no laws against trapping them. However, if your plan is to release them in a new location, you will be disappointed as they will likely just fly back to where they came from.
The most common way to trap a pigeon is using a cage with a one-way door. You will need to place food inside of it that they eat such as bread or cracked corn. The slot they enter through only opens on one side, so once they're in, they aren't getting out.
For best results, you should prop the door open for the first couple days and allow the pigeons to get comfortable eating there. This will ensure you get the maximum amount of birds trapped in there at once on the day that you set the trap for real.
Unfortunately, as previously stated, relocation does not work. If you are trying to get rid of the pigeons, you will have to kill them. Luckily, as they are considered vermin, there are no laws stopping you from doing this. They are one of the few birds not protected by law, some others being the House Sparrow and the European Starling. Be careful however as Mourning Doves look quite similar, and ARE illegal to kill.
This is not the most effective way of dealing with them, however, as more will certainly flock to the area in time. The best methods to keeping them away are with wind-chimes, fake birds of prey, or by placing spikes on the places that they normally rest.
