I commonly extract dead animal carcasses from homes and property. The very animals that commonly invade houses die inside houses, and when they do, they create a very unpleasant odor as the carcass decays. The successful removal of deceased wildlife definitely requires experience and knowledge of building architecture and animal behavior. I've cut and pried open every nook and cranny imaginable to locate and remove rotting critter bodies. I am the best - I always find the animal, deodorize and decontaminate the area, and seal up the hole I've cut open. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Dead Animals page.

The Tragedy of an Electrocuted Rat - You know what is common between people who scatter rat poison around the house and rats that get electrocuted? They all make me want to ask them, ‘What in the world were you thinking?’ If only I had a penny for each time I have found electrocuted rodents in people’s homes to be the cause of the foul smell spread around their houses. As is evident from the picture, the rat in this case also met a similar fate and the poor homeowners just could not figure out why their house had started reeking all of a sudden.

As a true professional animal carcass remover, I reached as soon as I could to save the day. My job, of course, started with the usual sniffing around to locate the dead animal. Years of experience have taught me the difference between the stench of different rotting animals and I knew for sure that this one was a dead rat. Having already ruled out the more obvious places like the attic and the walls, I figured out that the dead rat is in some hidden part of the house. This was probably also the reason why the residents could not understand where the smell originated from.

And then my amazing nose led me to the exact site of the incident – the breaker box. Sure enough, once I managed to open the breaker box, there was a dead rat stuck between the wires. In case you did not know, rats have a strange fetish for electric wires and this suicidal obsession almost always results in death for them. As bad as it is for the rats themselves, it is no walk in the park for me to remove their carcasses out of there. After all, I did not want to end up like an electrocuted rat. With extreme caution, I removed this dead guy from within the wires and thankfully survived the whole thing.
