Rattlesnakes are a large group of snakes that are venomous that are most popularly known for their rattler. There are more than 32 known subspecies of the rattlesnake. Rattlesnakes are known for being predators. They usually hunt smaller animals such as rodents and birds. Most snakes will kill their prey by constricting them until they suffocate and are unable to breathe. Rattlesnakes are able to kill their prey by delivering a powerful bite with venomous poison.
Most rattlesnakes are identified by their rattlers, as well as their heads that have a triangular shape. The rattler on a snake can vary greatly from snake to snake. In the wild, it is common for this reptile to damage their rattlers, and even cause them to break. The average size of a rattler is four or five segments. Some rattlesnakes that are kept in captive are able to have more than 20 segments. These segments are created by the rattlesnake shedding their skin three to four times each year. When the snake vibrates their rattle it creates a large buzzing sound. This sound is designed to warn attackers or prey that they are there.
Catching a rattlesnake can be very dangerous to humans, as well as common household pets. However, there are situations where you need to relocate them. This first thing that you should do is assess the situation and be aware of what you are able to do. If the snake is located in an awkward location, you may need to utilize the assistance of a professional. It is important to be prepared and have the proper equipment needed to safely relocate a rattlesnake. It is also important that you should wear protective clothing prior to trying to relocate the snake. You should wear heavy boots that protect your foot and ankle from the snake’s bite.
