If you need snake removal in your town, click for the National Directory of
Snake Removal Companies that I've carefully compiled in every USA city.
Silver racer snakes are usually more commonly referred to as a gray rat snake. These snakes are usually dark colored and range from tan to brown to gray. Most silver racer snakes will have dark patches and will usually be two to five feet in length. These snakes are hardy snakes which makes them a great recommendation for beginners that want to own a snake as a pet.
Silver racers will be completely comfortable in a fish tank with a screen top or a large aquarium. Silver racers are snakes that enjoy burrowing, so your aquarium should have a substrate such as newspaper so that the snake is able to burrow and hide. Newspaper is also a great material for substrate as it is inexpensive and easy to change. Silver racers are cold blooded reptiles so you will need to have a heating mat located on the bottom of the tank to keep your snake warm.
Snakes need to have a place to hide in their aquarium. Because these reptiles are so small you are able to make a hiding box from an old tissue box or purchase something from your local pet store. You will also need to provide your silver racer with a drinking dish that is deep enough for your snake to immerse himself. You will need to make sure that the dish is not so deep that they are unable to get out and possibly drown.
Silver racers enjoy climbing so you will need to provide them with branches and logs that they can use. It is recommended that you purchase climbing accessories from a pet store as opposed to something that is found in the outdoors. Sticks and logs from outside of your home may contain a bacterium that is harmful to the health of your snake.
Running a wildlife removal business in the state of Florida gives me the chance to see all kinds of interesting snakes! Florida has about 45 species of snake, and I've seen 29 of them so far. I've always got my eye out for new species, and
I love spotting rare snakes in Florida. I also have a thing for venomous snakes - they're not too common in FL, so I always enjoy the chance to see a poisonous serpent. I really like snakes, and I've never hurt or killed one. They're an
important part of the ecosystem, and often persecuted. Still, if you don't want snakes in your house or on your property, and judging from the number of phone calls I receive regarding snake problems, you don't, then give me or a local snake
expert in your area a call, and we can remove the snakes from your property for you. I use many snake control methods - from snake traps, to snake repellents, to habitat modification, but most of all, good old-fashioned capture and removal.
