Bats are animals you surely do not want to have around your home. These are vile, horrible animals that can be a terrible nuisance to you and your family. Not only do you have to worry about the mess that they leave, but the risk to the health of your family and your pets is something that is truly serious. They carry a great number of diseases, and so getting rid of bats anywhere on your property may be as important as any decision you will make.

In many locations it may be quite easy to get rid of them, even if you are talking about in the attic of a home. Because the attic is fairly isolated in relation to the rest of the house, it really is not that big of a deal to be able to get rid of them. However, in a log cabin it is something that is an entirely different story. You can’t really isolate this creature, so you have to find a means that helps you to get rid of the bat while not putting yourself at risk.

The first thing to do is to make sure that you have covered your skin before taking any kind of action. Bats are very dangerous and you don’t want to put yourself at risk. This means to wear clothing that covers your exposed skin, gloves, boots, a hat, goggles, and a surgical mask. You can even get a parasite from a bat by breathing in its dried waste so caution is essential.

The first way to defeat the bat is through light. Bats do not see well when it is light out, so if you have a bat inside your log cabin when it is getting dark outside, the best thing to do is to open the door and shine as many lights in your house as possible. This will cause the bat to go for the darkness of the night and your problem is resolved.

As a little warning to you, it is important to remember that if it is light outside, your work to get rid of the bat is going to be a lot more. Because these animals do not want to go into the light, you will not get it to go on its own.

If you are in this kind of circumstance, the best thing to do is to lead the bat to a corner of your house using a broom and then knock it on the floor. Once it is down, throw a blanket over the top of it, wrap it in the blanket and then take it outside and throw the blanket out. To be on the safe side, don’t try to release it. Just put the blanket down and let the bat work its way out on its own. This is the safest thing to do. For more information, you may want to click on one of these guides that I wrote:
