If you have found yourself in situation where a bird has gotten stuck in a warehouse or other large building, such as a store, things might get rather panicky very quickly. The bird, unable to break free from the concrete trap it has found itself in, is more than likely going to start flying all over the place, being as scatty as you like, and even more so when you start chasing around after it. It will be disorientated, scared, and really unsure of what is going on. To them, you aren't trying to help them. You're a predator and you're going to attack and then eat them. You can't think badly of them for thinking that, you are much bigger than they are after all.
You should aim to close all windows in the building, with the exception of one. The remaining open window should be opened as far as possible. You might think that opening all of the windows will give you more opportunity to shoo the flying and flapping creature away, but it could actually work against you. More open windows mean more birds that could potentially fly in, especially with the calls of terror and fear that your trapped bird will make.
Make sure that any pets or other animals can't get near the bird. You certainly don't want your cat chasing after the thing, and this is for legal reasons, as well as potentially making the situation worse. The bird will be all the more frantic when other animals are brought onto the scene, and this won't make removing it from the large store or warehouse any easier. The legal reasons we mentioned are because some birds (and other flying animals) are endangered or protected. Killing them, trapping them, and harming them or harassing them in any way is actually unlawful.
If you can, turn all the lights off within the large store or building. The open window will hopefully present the bird with enough light to know where it should be heading, and the way is even easier to see when the inside of the building is dark.
Hopefully, this should work to remove the bird from a large store or warehouse, but if that doesn't work, you could attempt to shoo the animal out using a large sheet or similar. Do not attempt to shoo the bird with anything hard, such as a broom handle. What you think is a light touch will actually hurt the bird considerably. They are small and delicate creatures and should be handled with care. This kind of care usually isn't understood by those who aren't regulars in the world of wild animal or bird handling.
If all else fails, call in the professionals. You should also consider calling in the professionals if you aren't sure of the species of the bird, as well as when dealing with larger species, such as birds of prey. The last thing you'll want to do is put an endeared bird in any more danger, and larger birds of prey can be just as dangerous and destructive as they are beautiful.
