Cheshire Wildlife Tip:
Can raccoons break through ceiling
Raccoons are those kinds of animals that will figure out a way to get into your home if they get the chance. One of their favorite places to set up residence is in the attic of your home, simply because it offers them a large spot with a great deal of isolation and privacy. Most people don't spend much time in the attic, so a raccoon can build a nest and live there for months and you may not even know it.
The big concern that many people have is that this critter will figure out a way to get out of the attic and into the rest of your home. While they are messy animals, which is an issue in and of itself, the fact that they carry a large number of parasites and pathogens is also a concern, and this is why you need to take the proper steps to keep them out of your home, even from the attic area.
However, if they are in your attic, you want to make sure that the animal isn't getting into your home. This may make you wonder if a raccoon can break through the ceiling and get into the rest of your house.
While a raccoon is not a particularly small animal, it is not easy for them to get through the ceiling of your house. In fact, if you consider it for a moment, a raccoon will not try to get into your house unless there is a pathway available to it. It is extremely rare when one of these animals even digs at the siding of your home to get inside. They frequently use a pathway that they have discovered on their own, like a loose board, gap, or crack to gain access. They don't generally create these themselves.
This is a good thing because these animals will rarely create holes that allow them to get into the main part of your house. If truth be told, the critter already found a way to get into your attic and would most likely preferred the anonymity that comes from being in your attic without you knowing that it's there.
In addition, this animal already has a means to get in and out of the attic, so it will simply go outside to go look for food and other essentials that it needs. This is good news for you because the animal will rarely attempt to even get into the main part of your house.
You should also consider the fact that drywall is a fairly sturdy material and unless water has been leaking on it at some point you really have no worries about these critters getting into your home. It's obvious that you would be a little bit concerned, but the truth is that it is extremely difficult for a raccoon to get into your house truly attic and list you have left the door entryway open. So, sleep well at night, it is quite unlikely a raccoon is coming to join you.
