To Prevent Squirrels In The House You Can Use Squirrel Poison - If you have squirrels in your home, you may be desperate to get rid of them to the point where you will do anything to get their scratching, smelly little butts out of your house. If you have a problem with rats it's easy - you can put down rat poison. However it isn't so straight forward with squirrels! You can't buy a poison that has been specifically designed to get rid of squirrels - the closest you can get is rat poison which is often ineffective and causes more harm than good. If an animal eats a poison that has not been designed to kill it, then although there is a chance it will die, it will cause an excess amount of suffering and pain to the creature. It is actually illegal to kill squirrels by poisoning them as it is seen as inhumane.

Another consideration is that if you poison a squirrel it will not necessarily die immediately. Poisons can take a number of hours to work, meaning that your squirrely friend has time to go and get settled inside a wall somewhere before he dies and stinks your house up. As annoying as squirrels can be, you have to be humane if you kill them. Connecticut termite-beetle finds way into warm Connecticut homes

Biologists don't want people to spray and kill the beetles - they're too valuable. Instead, they suggest that people try to seal up windows and doors and place narrow mesh screening across any openings in a house until the first killing frost, when the beetles go into hibernation. The New Haven County Pest Control board could not be reached for comment.

Birds don't eat lady beetles, which have a bitter, poisonous taste. The animal and pest exterminator of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station said some natural pests may reduce the beetles' numbers to where they're a manageable crowd, rather than an ugly mob.
