Groundhogs are relatively small creatures, although big by rodent standards. You might wonder, how big can they get? Size of Groundhogs

The average size of a groundhog is 8 to 9 pounds and about 16 inches long from head to tail. Most groundhogs that you see will be around this size. Younger groundhogs will vary in size, of course, but adults generally stay in this range.
