I don't do a whole lot of mole work. |

In my job as a wildlife control operator, I usually deal with the same 8 types of animals: raccoons, squirrels, rats, opossums, armadillos, snakes, bats, and birds. However, from time to time I get a chance to handle an
uncommon species. I really relish these jobs. The above photos are all of animals that I don't usually handle. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Moles page.
The mole shenanigans - Moles are one of the most commonly found havoc causing animals, but unlike their other rodent family members (opossums, rats, mice and squirrels) they love to hang out in the outdoors. And by outdoors I specifically mean people’s lawn where moles love to burrow and create a mess. They live beneath the ground and survive on a diet comprising earthworms, beetles or insect larvae. For people who have spent a fortune on designing and cultivating their lawns, mole infestation can be a nightmare. These rodents will burrow deep inside, loosening plant roots and leaving behind mounds of earth when they set out in search of food.
The mole in this picture was no less devious than the general mole characteristics I just described. Funny thing is that this species of mole, called the eastern mole, does not have any ears or eyes. The network of tunnels these moles dig up is solely based on their instincts. Now isn’t that amazing? When I got a call from the residents of this house about a mole situation, the caller wanted me to do something as soon as possible because the mole was creating a ruckus in their beautifully designed lawn.
The tricky part in catching a mole is that you have to do it with your hands after a lot of running around and believe me, these are some fast animals. While there are traps available for other catching other rodents, there aren’t any that are specifically designed for catching moles since they live underground. I can set up the lethal traps but my animal lover heart will never allow that. The same goes for poison, although poisoning a mole is also not all that simple as it only eats all the squiggly stuff I mentioned earlier. And so, I caught this mole with my bare hands (cool, isn’t it?).
AAAnimal Control is a privately owned wildlife removal and pest control business, located in Orlando Florida. I deal strictly with wild animals including ones that have died inside houses. I am not an extermination company, but a critter removal
and control specialist. The above photos are some of the many that I've taken in the field over my years of work. Please email me if
you have any questions about the above photographs, or any questions about
wildlife problems or Florida wildlife removal issues.
