Customer Raccoon Email: Hi! I have some questions for you if you don't mind.. In the past couple years due to home rehapping and the starting of renting properties, I have become aware of the great problem that racoons cause in my area.(south sburbs of chicago and northern indiana) I just picked up a new rental property about a week ago and noticed a roof vent with tell tale entry signs.
i own a couple of traps which I'be used in the past to remove from some of my other very ghetto properties dens of up to 5-6 at a time with great success and relocaed over ten miles from the orignal site. This new house has had a trap for three days and last night it was flipped and the roof vent was completely destroyed in the process and is now wide open. This property has a good attic access hole inside, so in your experience will the mother usually flee if I enter the attic to assess the situation and quantity up there, or what do you think. Just looking for a opinion. Ive caught many adult groups and relocated with good success and no returns, just not mama and babies. Are they still babies at this time of year or am I looking at a group of semi-large adults right now? Thanks in advance for your input. Christopher
My Answer: At this time of year, and almost any time of year there's raccoons in the attic, it's a mother with babies. It's illegal in your state for you to trap and remove and relocate any raccoons, and if you trap the mother, you'll leave babies up in the
attic to starve to death and rot and stink. Please call the professional listed in Chicago on my directory in order to do it correctly, legally, and humanely.

The raccoon (Procyon lotor), is a common urban animal, and native to North America. Raccoons are easy to recognize, with a black mask and ringed tail, as seen in the above photo.
Raccoons tend to weigh between 10-20 pounds as adults, and live an average of 5 years. They are mostly nocturnal, and are omnivores, and will often eat pet food or garbage. They have
become very acclimated to living in cities and urban areas. They are very strong, excellent climbers, very intelligent, and they are very skilled with their hands, which causes them to
commonly break into homes and attics, where they cause considerable damage, and they also destroy other property, and thus raccoons
