Customer Raccoon Email: Hi David; I agree that baby raccoons left in attics is a problem, and rest assured one we talk about every time we talk to someone that is looking to remove something from their house/attic, etc. We always stress the
importance of humane removal, possibilities of babies, etc. Where we are located, there are several issues that we have to contend with. First off, legalities have been set in place that makes it illegal to relocate any trapped mammal from one's property.
The other thing, and one that often works in the benefit of the raccoons is that trapping is astronomically expensive here; once people find how much it will cost to have them removed, they call us (as they think we will do it for free). It is at that
point that we counsel them about patience, not relocating the mother thus causing orphans, etc. Our website is filled with ways to reunite babies with their mothers and not create orphans. I really can't promise I will have time to look through your site more extensively -
I think I stated in my previous e-mail that we are undergoing a move and I, quite truthfully, don't have much leftover time during this transitionary period. If I can I will, but please know in the meanwhile we will continue to spread the word, as we too

The raccoon (Procyon lotor), is a common urban animal, and native to North America. Raccoons are easy to recognize, with a black mask and ringed tail, as seen in the above photo.
Raccoons tend to weigh between 10-20 pounds as adults, and live an average of 5 years. They are mostly nocturnal, and are omnivores, and will often eat pet food or garbage. They have
become very acclimated to living in cities and urban areas. They are very strong, excellent climbers, very intelligent, and they are very skilled with their hands, which causes them to
commonly break into homes and attics, where they cause considerable damage, and they also destroy other property, and thus raccoons
