When it comes to installing the fence, make sure that you are embedding the fence at least six inches into the ground, as skunks may not be able to climb but they are very good diggers, so embedding the fence will help to stop the skunks from being able to get under the fence.

There are several steps that you can take that will help reduce the numbers of skunks that actually come to your property, and certainly the installation of a good fence will help to solve the problem for you. Dealing with food sources is key if you don't want to have a fence around the property, and this will mean storing garbage and pet food stores in solid containers inside is the first step here. You should also look to remove any fallen fruit promptly, while sealing any potential den sites for the skunk such as gaps under decking and sheds will also help to make the property less attractive to the skunk.
