Your home is supposed to be a beautiful location where you can enjoy privacy, solitude, and a sense of freedom. Your home is your castle, the place where you can get away from it all, block out the rest of the world, and find that you can be the ruler. It's what makes owning your own home a spectacular choice in life.



However, that choice can be ruined when a wild animal has made its way under your home and is living under your house. The same kinds of things that you enjoy in your home – security, protection, freedom, and solitude – are the same kinds of things that a wild animal would find enjoyable, even if it is living under your house.

Each year, thousands of people find that a squirrel, raccoon, snake, possum, rabbit, or other kind of animal has made its way underneath their home and is now living there rent free. Because of the health concerns that these animals bring as well as the concerns related to the fact that wild animals can attack your pets, children, and other family members, it is imperative to get these animals out from underneath your house and off your property as quickly as you can. If you are trying to learn how to remove an animal living under a house, here are some things you should try.

The first thing to do is to try to figure out how it is that the animal is getting underneath your home. If this is a situation where you have some kind of vent or opening around the foundation that is allowing the animal access then your problem is a little less problematic than you may have thought.

For example, some homes have a wood foundation that goes around the exterior of the home that adds additional support, but which has a screen of some kind in a few different locations to allow access underneath the home.

If this is the case is to use something like a one-way exclusion funnel to get the animal out from underneath your home. The use of this device is quite simple. All you need to do is attach the funnel over the location where the animal is gaining access underneath your house. At some point, the wild animal, no matter what it is, will need to go outside to get food or water. When it does, it will be able to get out from underneath your house, the funnel will not allow it to regain access. This resolves your problem without you having to do much more than attach the funnel.

However, there are those homes that have a wide-open area underneath them. They are placed on the foundation, but this is not blocked off in any way. If this is the kind of problem you are having then the best solution may be the simplest. If you use something like a garden hose sprayer, you can scare the animal and get it to run away from underneath your home.
