Customer Opossum Email: Hi, I was just sitting here thinking about how many of these awesome animals such as possums are ran over here on bainbridge island, wa, and it just tears me up to see how adorable they are as babies too!,
actually I was readin the bainbridge review (onlline) and I seen a little animal that looks like a possom, so I went searching for baby photos of possoms and came upon this place, it is so weird how things happen in this world,
anyway, keep up the great work, I live for helping animals, I am an underwater photographer in the puget sound area, and market my stuff through many magazines, once again I just stumbled upon this site by accident, glad i did,
great shots, and I wish we could see less possoms dieing on the roads here, thanx, Larry, Bainbridge Island, WA
My Answer: Thanks for the kind words. Roadkill is an unfortunate consequence of our automotive infrastructure, and possums are the most common culprits, because they are relatively slow and unaware.

The opossum, also commonly called the possum, is actually named the Virginia Opossum (Didelphis virginiana), and it is the only marsupial native to North America. Possums have several unique traits. Most people know that they
sometimes "play possum" which is a form of playing dead, and they also know that opossums can hang from their tails. But possums are unique in many other ways - they have a low body temperature that prevents many viruses and
diseases from affecting them, that tail is prehensile (they can grip things with it) they have opposable thumbs, and they have 50 teeth, the most of any land mammal. They are very opportunistic and good climbers, which causes them to
commonly break into decks, sheds, and attics, where they cause considerable damage, leave a lot of droppings, and they often die and stink in these areas. Thus, opossums
are considered pest animals by many people, which is why I remove them. If you want to learn more, please read my How To Get Rid of Opossums page.
