This one tore a hole in a roof duct

Customer Raccoon Email: Hi David, Thank You for your most informative information. I hear some loud, some more faint noises sometimes, usually in between my 1st and 2nd floor, in the walls, and above the 2nd floor, day and nite. I heard that the next door neighbor saw 2 opossums outside, a while ago. One was dead. My roof was redone 4 years ago, and I now have Hardie Plank Siding. I can not figure out how something is getting inside the attic. Although I have not seen any scat in the attic, one exterminator told me he thought it smelled like a racoon. In the morning, sometimes I hear small scattering noises when I open the garage door. Can you please tell me what kind of food does a racoon and an opossum like? so I can put it in a trap? If you have any ideas, I would welcome them. Thanks very much, Peggy

My Answer: Sure! Raccoons love to eat marshmallows! But simply setting a trap outside with marshmallows will not solve your problem.  There's likely baby raccoons in the walls, and they need to be removed properly!  Your best bet is to call a pro in your area.

The raccoon (Procyon lotor), is a common urban animal, and native to North America. Raccoons are easy to recognize, with a black mask and ringed tail, as seen in the above photo. Raccoons tend to weigh between 10-20 pounds as adults, and live an average of 5 years. They are mostly nocturnal, and are omnivores, and will often eat pet food or garbage. They have become very acclimated to living in cities and urban areas. They are very strong, excellent climbers, very intelligent, and they are very skilled with their hands, which causes them to commonly break into homes and attics, where they cause considerable damage, and they also destroy other property, and thus raccoons are considered pest animals by many people, which is why I remove them.
