These young fell into a screened porch.

Customer Raccoon Email: David, I've just looked over your raccoons in the attic guide, as they are my primary specialty - I haven't looked at the squirrel one yet but if it's as good as the raccoon site, it'll be great. I was VERY impressed and very pleased and I wish the wildlife removal companies in this area were half as good as you are about being thorough. I can't tell you how many baby raccoons I've had to rehab because someone removed and killed the mother, leaving the babies. It makes me insane with frustration and rage. I would like to add a link to your web sites on ours. We have two, and they represent the only legal wildlife rehabbing in the state of Rhode Island. One, my personal one, is in the process of being revamped and the other is our official Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of RI (of which I'm on the board). I would welcome you to add both in your links - mine because I'm one of the only two people in the state licensed to rehab raccoons, and the association's because that's the site of our main clinic and my veterinarian (who is the other RVS licensed person). On the donations page, I would suggest that you add Defenders of Wildlife, an excellent national organization that advocates for native wildlife and does a really top notch job at public education and outreach and legislation battles. I would also, over time, add links to each of the state's major rehab organizations (such as WRARI above) because ultimately we're the ones who end up spending tens of thousands of dollars each year to rehab native wildlife and inevitably are only funded by public donations. Most rehab facilities receive no funding from the state. REALLY good job, Dave - very impressive. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for such an excellent articulation of the issues, and I will plan to forward your web site links to every nuisance control office in the state. Best Regards, Lorna

My Answer: Thanks for the kind words about my site, and the suggestions for good wildlife websites to link to.

The raccoon (Procyon lotor), is a common urban animal, and native to North America. Raccoons are easy to recognize, with a black mask and ringed tail, as seen in the above photo. Raccoons tend to weigh between 10-20 pounds as adults, and live an average of 5 years. They are mostly nocturnal, and are omnivores, and will often eat pet food or garbage. They have become very acclimated to living in cities and urban areas. They are very strong, excellent climbers, very intelligent, and they are very skilled with their hands, which causes them to commonly break into homes and attics, where they cause considerable damage, and they also destroy other property, and thus raccoons are considered pest animals by many people, which is why I remove them. AAAnimal Control is a privately owned wildlife removal and pest control business, located in Orlando Florida. I deal strictly with wild animals. I am not an extermination company, but a critter removal and control specialist. The above photos are some of the many that I've taken in the field over my years of work. Please email me if you have any questions about the above photographs, or any questions about wildlife problems or raccoon control issues.
